A basic network of footpaths has been promoted by the Local Authority for some years now, which has planned and executed several footpath projects. The existing network was improved by adapting the paths to minor difficulties, working on their surface, signposting them and handling their slopes. Along the same lines, the number of footpaths and the length of their routes were increased.

Benalmádena currently has around 45 kilometres of footpaths having some wonderful views of the coastline and with geological, zoological and botanical places of special interest. Most of these footpaths run along the Sierra de Benalmádena between Calamorro Mountain and Castillejos Mountain.
