The Sierra Crestellina Natural Site is located in the Casares Local Authority in the province of Malaga and has a surface area measuring 477.50 hectares. It was declared a natural site by means of Law 2/1989 18 July Approving the Inventory of Protected Natural Areas in Andalusia and Establishing Additional Protection Measures (Official Gazette of Andalusia no. 60 of 27/07/1989).
It is also a Special Protection Area for birds (SPA 2002) and has been proposed as a Site of Community Interest (SCI).
It is characterised by the presence of flora species in danger of extinction and its important wildlife, including a colony of nesting griffon vultures (Gyps fulvus) and the presence of Bonelli´s eagle (Hieraaetus fasciatus), along with other cliff-nesting species.
